Playa de las americas

Playa de las Americas, on the island's south west coast, is Tenerife's liveliest, fastest growing and most popular resort.

Sheltered by the rugged mountains, the sky is often cloudless and the temperature on average is several degrees higher than in the north.

It can be the easy life for holiday-makers here, lazing around the pool or on one of the resort's volcanic sandy beaches.

For the more energetic, facilities exist for wind-surfing, sailing, pedalo-hire, parasailing, paragliding, tennis, golf, bowls and horse riding, and the resort's American style 'Octopus' water park provides a fun day out for all the family. In the evenings the huge choice of international restaurants, bars, discos, night-clubs etc., is excellent.

The fastest developing area and quickly becoming the most prestigious is the north western end of the resort, known locally as Playa Fanabe, where there is an abundance of high quality hotels and apartment complexes, and in close proximity to the new Puerto Colon yacht marina.

For those who enjoy the occasional 'flutter' on the tables, why not try the various Casinos in the area.
